<<when they could just go to CDNOW and purchase the CD's that they want?>>

Like CDNOW, you can buy a CD from compactconnection.com without buying a musiccard, but you will not get the $10.99 price. TSIG's non-musiccard prices are comparable to CDNOW's (maybe a little cheaper). If you are going to buy more than 3 CDs in the next year or so, it saves you money to have a musiccard for those 3 (or more) purchases.

<<WHY would someone buy this card, which in turn they need to register it and only then have the capabilities of buying CD's>>

I bought a musiccard a few months ago. It was a very simple process. As far as registering it, I'm sure that it will be as easy as typing in a number when you enter your other customer information (such as shipping address).

Some people that would not normally buy the musiccard may buy the card in order to support a non-profit organization (Babe Ruth League for example). Some may use the card and some may not, but hopefully those who do use the card get hooked to compactconnection.com

As others have said before, the consumers, non-profit and charity organizations, and TSIG all will "win" with the musiccard.
