Even someone with training in "in law, history,[and] policy" might find this decision gives undue deference to congress and its ability to pursue citizens of this republic in order to turn them in to cannon fodder. You can, of course, shrug off the opposition to this decision because you don't think the folks on the other side are educated enough- but in the end, that's just ad hominem dressed up in frilly panties. You could, of course, explain to us why you think in this day and age of enormous federal power you support an even more deferential test for the military getting the bodies it needs- but you need not say anything about the education of the folks who oppose you, because there are going to be some every bit as educated as you (and perhaps even better educated) who simply frame the issue differently, and hold different truths to be self evident.
