You guys are crucifying someone extremely talented and capable to avoid dealing with what is (to me) the plain fact that something inside Apple is pretty seriously fucked up.

Nobody doubts he's an incredibly smart guy and his contributions to iOS were invaluable. Unfortunately, you gotta get along with people too. Even if you're Steve Jobs, which Forstall isn't. That said, I find it interesting that you think so highly of the man. I somehow got the impression you thought iOS to be not as good as Android, given your favorable comments about your Galaxy phone. I've also be reading complaints (not by you, but others around the Net) about how iOS is looking tired and lacking in important features vis Android. Apart from Siri and Maps, there were also issues with notifications and reminders which took iOS one or two iterations before it could even compare with Android's implementation, and even then, some people still find it wanting in those areas. As chief of the iOS division, wasn't Forstall responsible for not keeping up with the competition? So, while he deserves a lot of praise and kudos iOS's for success, he also deserves the knocks for its weaknesses.

By my reckoning, almost all the major fuck-ups that we know of seem to be occurring on the software front, the exception being Browett-gate. And as far as I can tell, Apple is dealing with them pretty much head on. I don't see any avoidance or denial there. As for us, we can only speculate at what is really happening internally. Maybe what you see is what you get, and management has righted itself with this reorg. Your guess is as good as mine, and of course only TWT ;-)
