New Intel Bestseller: "12 Mobile CPUs"
Posted 10/01/01 at 9:16 pm by Rat

Today Intel once again announced its mobile CPUs family including 12 different pieces. Actually, the list appeared really diverse and impressive: starting from 700MHz Ultra Low Voltage Pentium III ($209) with the average power consumption of 0.5W and finishing with 1.2GHz Pentium III ($722) consuming only 1.5W of power. However, all of them feature their 512KB L2 cache and work with 133MHz FSB. Moreover, all the processors support Enhanced Intel SpeedStep with automatic modes switching 9though there are only two modes there: Maximum Performance Mode and Battery Optimized Mode).
Besides, Intel has also finally introduced two remaining i830 chipset versions: i830M and i830MG, both equipped with an integrated graphics core, but featuring memory of different size. i830M is a more powerful solution and Intel claims that it will be 113% faster than the i815EM. Therefore, the price difference between the new models is tangible: i830M costs $49.5 and i830MG - $35.

I wonder if they are talking about the integrated graphics performance. That could be a somewhat beneficial improvement, since the i815 is noted for its sub-par performance with integrated graphics. The i830 could be a good seller. I wonder if any websites would be interested in doing a comparison.
