Alan, That is one of the things that makes this political correct naming of groups with relationship to their homeland confusing. If he was born in South Africa, regardless of his color, he was born an African. If the black people are called African American, that is wrong, because they were not born in Africa. Keep that up, and white people would be split up, and put in groups like Irish Americans, German Americans, Polish Americans, etc. Then what do those with 5 European bloods, and 2 American Indian tribes, in his veins be called?? That's just getting silly.
Everyone that was born in America, should be called American, and anyone who becomes a legal citizen, should also be called an American. If they were born in another nation, and have not given up that citizen ship, they should be called a, what ever, country where they were born. Most of the black population of America, and not African born, and should not be recognized as shut, and those from south of the border should not be called Hispanics, or Latinos. The are Mexicans, Brazilians, Columbians, etc. |
