"Ruthless Monopoly" . . . Poor Bill. . . perhaps we should pass the hat. . <smirk> . . He has so much to be thankful for. . . he should have settled before it got this far. Giving Netscape a prominent location on Windows would have not changed MSFT's revenue stream and would have shown the giant in a kinder light. . . keeping consumers on their side. . . but instead. . .this decision puts Microsoft in the same category as Phillip Morris, in the eyes of the typical consumer. Which leads me to an odd thought. . . if Phillip Morris had definitive information that smoking caused serious risks in numerous ways, yet squashed the info or whatever. . . then how many other corporations have done the same? We are now hearing about how dangerous cellular phones are. . .what about those microwave ovens we were told were safe? And could a car manufacturer have figured out that the only thing that takes their cars completely off the market is it being totaled. Could they have learned that window cranks falling off and some rust through is just not enough to get the cars junked. . .and planned obsolescence was just too obvious. . . so in order to keep demand high. . .could they be placing extra powerful engines in the lighter weight cars, so that accident rates go up?. . .then place airbags and reinforced cages to protect lives. . .leading to this question. . . Are more people walking away from cars that have been totaled? I know that takes us way out on a basic trust issue. . .but my point is this. . . is Phillip Morris any more "evil" than any other corporation in America? And if not, then what else don't we know?
