Excuse me for butting in here, but jobless figures do not get "rigged". I could give you a very very long explanation as to how and why they are not rigged and cannot possibly be rigged, but this would either bore you or tick you off.

Using common sense, which is more simple, I'll ask you a question.....how long do you think Greenspan and other federal policymakers would tolerate "rigged" figures?

If you are really interested in learning about how the statistics are compiled and what they mean, you can visit the Bureau of Labor Statistics website and read all about the subject.

Not only do I know some of the people who compile these statistics, but I spent many years working in the office which released them every month, so you will have to excuse me for getting somewhat amused/annoyed at internet gossip which constantly tries to paint the government as a liar when it comes to dispensing public information which it is required by federal rules and acts of Congress to dispense for the good of the public.
