Intel talks about talks with Intergraph

theregister.co.uk

Intergraph yesterday told the world that it was talking to Intel about talks to resolve their patent/royalty dispute. The two were ordered to talk to each other by the court. And they began this mediation on April 3.

The outcome is "an agreement by both parties to continue direct discussions in search of settlement opportunities. All litigation between the parties is being considered in these discussions".

Intergraph and Intel have been fighting in the law courts since 1997. Intergraph owns patents for technologies used for the design of the Clipper C5 processor, which it argued were used by Intel for the Pentium processor. Last year, its patent claim was established in court.

Intergraph wants royalties from Intel. It also wants (or wanted) blood: the company has also accused Chipzilla of antitrust violations, and State tort and contract breaches. ®
