Michael, <<<Ottelini's keynote was superb on all these points.

That is a terrific link. Ottelini does not come across on TV. He has virtually no charisma and sounds almost silly in sound bites. But, I should have known not to judge a book by it's cover. Otellini didn't get to where he got without some real smarts.

But, wrt marketing and understanding the customer, IMO is not a process and cannot be reduced to a process. It's more like a vision and the ability to execute and take that vision from concept to delivery. In that case, it's best to have that vision owned by a forceful, but benign, executive (Chairman, CEO, President, whatever) rather than go to a marketing committee.

Nevertheless, I think if you need to understand technology and how to profit from investing in technology, you have to read Otellini's Keynote address.
