So, if a CEO of a tech company tells me that there are no untruths of a material nature in any of the company's official financial statements, then I must conclude either A) The CEO is unaware that the statements omit hundreds of millions of dollars in unreported compensation expenses which inflates reported earnings (or under-reports losses), or B) The CEO is aware of this gross misrepresentation of the financial performance of the firm but deems it justified because it is good for the income of the managers and acceptable so long as you can get away with (it is legal). Look at part of the definitions you posted and tell me if this is "accountability" or "responsibility". I did not see that part that said "responsibility is whatever I can get away with".

5. Able to be trusted or depended upon; reliable.
6. Based on or characterized by good judgment or sound thinking: responsible journalism.>>

<<Responsible often implies the satisfactory performance of duties or the trustworthy care for or disposition of possessions: “I am responsible for the ship's safety” (Robert Louis Stevenson). Answerable suggests a moral or legal responsibility subject to review by a higher authority...>>
