That's a fair general take on all politics south of the río Bravo, wild eat-the-rich rhetoric and once in power settling down to a muddle-through more centrist course ... largely this is due to the machinery of government, in México one big question is, what does it matter who is presidente, if he can't get a majority in the cámara anyway ... Fox Quesada has been stalled on the majority of his programmes, this is an effect largely of forty per cent of diputados getting their seats through prop-rep ... this will likely apply to AMLO too, plus i think his scariness is over-hyped, by the panistas of course but also by the press, it makes great headlines ... it's a dead heat at this point, slight edge to AMLO but it's within the margin of error, there is a blackout on polls since friday or saturday
It's tomandante, btw, from the verb tomar, 'to drink' [among other things] ... prefix is Sup-, from a beer popular in the south, Superior
aru.v - ooooo, 18.00 ... thought as i was pushing the buy button last time that that might happen, didn't care ... on a punch down to 16.00 it will really really remind me of Arequipa, i shall buy instantly and large ... which is perfectly safe, as entering an order for aqp doesn't cost anything
ggc.v - hmm, not gonna fill the gap today, are we ... thought it might, but no volume, ah well another day then
van.v - acquired an interest in seven ugandan mines producing an undisclosed rare metal, this brought it an uptick ... i have no strong opinion on this one, just hold a few because it was my contest pick at new year's, couldn't get the first two choices, got van at the last moment ... they were thinking of spinning off their oilpatch side, don't know what's up with that
Phelps Dodge-Inco-Falco, hmm, this seems to have made zinc rise ... or at least, didn't slow it down much ... nickel up five per cent, well sure if the market is cornered now ... |
