The Russian school killings reveal the emptiness of the Bush assertion that he, not Kerry, is better able to protect us from terror.

I sat through a lot of "we're fighting them over there so we won't have to fight them over there" rhetoric during the Republican convention. I saw that so much it made me want to throw up. I sat through a few hours of "Kerry won't fight back but Bush is tough on terror." Is that supposed to make us feel safer from whatever level of threat we're supposed to be so afraid of?

Well, look at what happened in Russia. Does ANYONE here think that the Russians aren't "tough on terror?" The Russians??? Does anyone here think that our MILITARY can do ANYTHING noteworthy to protect against ANYONE with the desire and guts to die killing "soft targets?"

I believe it's all smoke and mirrors. Whatever risks that exist will continue to exist. It is, no matter what anyone tells us, a law enforcement, public policy and public relations driven issue. The "tough guy" and we'll send our soldiers out to fight them" talk is about 98% just that; empty talk.
