ASCEND COMM INC. said that WORLDCOM INC unit UUNET Technologies Inc has agreed to purchase more than 170,000 of Ascend's network switches by end of the year. Ascend did not disclose financial terms of the order, which it said was for its MAX family of wide area network (WAN) access switches. (Reuters 09:34 AM ET 09/25/97)
