Princeton Video Image Announces Agreement With CBS Sports and Core Digital Technologies to Launch EyeVision Technology

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 24, 2001--Princeton Video Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: PVII - news), the Emmy Award winning, global leader in virtual advertising and imaging solutions for television announced today a joint venture with CBS Sports and Core Digital Technologies to develop and implement EyeVision, a breakthrough instant replay system that will debut during the live broadcast of Super Bowl XXXV on January 28, 2001.

The announcement was made in Tampa by Sean McManus, President, CBS Sports, Brown Williams, Chairman Princeton Video Image (PVI), and Scott Barker, President and CEO, Core Digital Technologies.

EyeVision, developed by CBS Sports Engineering and PVI, produces three-dimensional replays from multi-camera angles. Using cameras synchronized on a particular player or players on the field, EyeVision will provide views of approximately 270-degrees around the object and will also have stop-action capability. CBS Sports will utilize 33 EyeVision cameras for its coverage of Super Bowl XXXV.

``EyeVision will revolutionize televised sports, and PVI's technology will have a major impact on the performance of EyeVision and its ease of implementation,'' said Brown Williams, Chairman of PVI.

Princeton Video Image, the leader in the enhancement of live television broadcasts and the company that supplies the First Down technology to CBS Sports, will utilize its live video modification skills to further enhance the impact of EyeVision. PVI's enhancements will do for EyeVision what the First Down Line has done for the sport of American football.

``My hope is in the very near future EyeVision will be a technology used in every major sporting event around the world, as well as for entertainment and commercial projects,'' said Sean McManus, President, CBS Sports.

PVI also supplies virtual advertising and imaging solutions to ``The NFL Today on CBS'', Major League Baseball, The Indy Racing League, NFL International and The CBS Early Show.

Core Digital Technologies, a corporation dedicated to creating, storing and re-purposing video and audio assets, will operate EyeVision's facilities and power EyeVisions' Internet activities. Core has supplied services to the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, the Stanley Cup Championships, the Sydney Olympic Games and the George W. Bush Inauguration.

Highlights from EyeVision will be featured on SuperBowl.com immediately following CBS Sport's post-game show. The EyeVision technology will also have applications in the coverage of several additional sporting events, including baseball, basketball, soccer and tennis, and can also be employed in the filming of theatrical productions.
