One of the biggest concerns about ending the war was to make sure that all the POW's were returned. Kerry went to Paris for the sole purpose of sounding out the Vietnamese position on returning all POW's at the war's end.

Kerry never testified against the troops. He reported wrong doing amongst a few, and how some of that wrong doing was sanctioned by the chain of command. That same kind of thing happened at Abu Gharaib, and now it's coming out that folks higher in the chain of command allowed those transgressions.

Kerry saw first hand that the war in Vietnam was a failed policy. I think that the consensus today is that it was an ill-conceived war and a costly war. Even McNamera, the primary architect of the Vietnam war said it was a mistake.

Kerry was no chicken shit, he fought gallantly and risked his live to save others. After his Vietnam experience he had the courage to stand up against a failed policy and to bring the soldiers home.

Many of those who served will be voting for Kerry, including myself.
