(Waiting up for the shuttle launch -- if the clouds clear.) I want to revisit the discussion of last weekend re: the start-ups and possible IPOs. Even though MRVC may not end up with 100% of each company, if one were spun off in an IPO, wouldn't we as share holders get some shares? When T spun off LU and NCR, T holders got shares of each. Wouldn't the same thing happen with MRVC? I would be delighted to get shares of NAC, even if it was only a couple hundred, if it took off like Juniper did. I would feel my MRVC money was well spent.
<OT> Am I just being incredibly blessed, or is everyone seeing unbelievable results in their portfolios? I just got around to totaling last week's results and was astonished. That was the cherry on the whip cream of last week's sundae. All summer I've been trying to get some close up highlight video of my son for a film to send to some college coaches but his team has been in disarray and it's hard to make highlights if you are nearly a one man show. The 2 returning starting seniors who should be leading the team have let their football prospects and opinions of their own talent cause them to skip practices, games and team camps. (One of them has NBA potential talent if he would apply himself.) They "honored" us with their presence for the last game of the summer league and stunk up the place. When they missed practices in preparation for last week's Sunshine State Games, the coach told them not to bother showing up because they weren't going to play. Much to my surprise, some other players who have been working hard to get better, really stepped up and my son's team blew out the first 3 teams they played. I have highlights galore. In the 3rd game he was a wild man scoring 25 points, blocking shots, making steals, assists -- the complete game. I joked to the Dad next to me that all I lacked was a dunk. Sure enough, he stole the ball and raced down the court for a beautiful slam dunk.( I think I'll end the tape with that and on the Stanford copy put QED.) Of course, reality returned in the second game Sat. night when our cross town rivals who happen to be the #1 ranked team in the state for all classes, wore our boys down. All in all, however, it was a fabulous weekend. Hope everyone on the thread had a great one. They just interrupted the Tonight show to follow the count down so I'll shut up. Cheers, Bob |
