The Wall Street Journal reports in its Wednesday edition that the
coroner in charge of the autopsy on Bre-X Minerals chief geologist
Michael de Guzman says his experts have still not positively
identified the body as Mr de Guzman's because of a lack of
records. Dr Albert Reyes, who heads the Medico-Legal Unit of the
Philippine National Bureau of Investigation in Manila, says he has
asked the de Guzman family to provide fingerprints and dental
records to compare with those of the body recovered in Indonesia.
So far, he says, the family has not complied. Dr Reyes says the
family promised to give the records to his office, but so far he has
not received anything. He says his office cannot release the
autopsy results until it is sure that the body is actually that of Mr de
Guzman. Dr Reyes declines to comment on the autopsy's findings,
except to say that they were complete. Family members of Mr de
Guzman have promised to release the autopsy's findings when
completed.
