"Pets.com, which flooded the air with the comic antics of a dog puppet, had a similar story to tell. According to Nielsen, Pets ranked seventh among all e-commerce companies in its volume of television advertising -- and first by far among Internet pet stores. Still, it got much less visitor traffic than either Petsmart.com or Petopia.com.
