Thanks. I believe I was making a general point about lots of newbies trying to jump in and trade actively in this market. For them to try and scalp a point here and there is virtually a 50-50 coin toss.

I have been watching the tape for three years here; I was lucky not to lose anything except paper profits my first year. Then I made a reasonable profit in 1998 and a large profit in 1999.

I don't think there is any substitute for time and experience when it comes to trading. I shudder at the thought of ordinary middle-class newbies taking college money or limited savings and trying to daytrade with it. They are the folks who provide profits for the professional traders.

That said, the advice you give on your thread is very good and reasonable. Nothing I said was meant as a reflection on what you do, but rather the type of people jumping into this game all at once without learning more about investing overall first.
