Arson
l October 2, 2000: A fire bomb is thrown at a synagogue in Paris.
l October 3, 2000: A fire bomb is thrown at a synagogue near Paris.
l October 7, 2000: A fire bomb is left in the yard of a Jewish school. A student notices it and extinguishes it.
l October 8, 2000: Two fire bombs are thrown at a synagogue near Paris and cause minor damage.
l October 9, 2000: Two apartments are set on fire. One is totally burned down.
l October 12, 2000: Explosives blow up in the Tiferet Israel School near Paris. The building is totally burned down.
l June 1, 2001: A fire bomb is thrown at the ritual bath of a synagogue near Paris.
Bomb warnings
l October 27, 2000: During services at a synagogue in the central part of Paris, an anonymous caller phoned in to say that "everything is about to blow up." The police evacuate worshipers and residents. It turns out that this was a false alarm.
l September 12, 2001: At 7 P.M., an anonymous caller announces that a bomb has been planted near a synagogue in a lower-class quarter near Paris. The police find an improvised device.
l September 13, 2001: An anonymous caller informs the Paris police that a nearby synagogue is about to blow up. Searches reveal nothing.
Harassment
Since the beginning of the intifada, hundreds of complaints have been filed by Jews of threats and curses directed at them. In neighborhoods where Jews live, there have been graffiti slogans like: "Dirty Jews"; "Jews to the gas chambers!"; "Jews! We will screw you!"; "Jews! Prepare for the French Intifada!"; and "Death to the Jews." |
