Who gets Sarah Palin's costly clothes?

By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist

So where are Sarah Palin's clothes now -- the ones from Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale's?

Palin previously has said she'd return the $150,000 wardrobe bought for her family by the Republican National Committee.

But by Thursday, the actual fate of Palin's costly clothes was a tangled web of conflicting stories, with one truth:

Sorting out this mess -- while hardly a national priority -- will be a closely watched afterthought of the 2008 elections.

Why?

Because the purchase of the clothes for Palin and her family cost the GOP ticket a huge amount of credibility during a crucial part of the campaign.

Palin had to defend what she wore on the trail. Late-night TV hosts mocked her and what she wore.

On Thursday, various media reports said the Republican camp would send a lawyer or lawyers to Alaska to inventory and possibly retreive any clothes Palin still had.

The McCain campaign has said that some of the clothes have been returned.

But now the nation will have to wait for a full report on what actually happened to a wardrobe that brought so much notoriety to a national presidential campaign.

============= It gets even richer:

1. The campaign apparently didn't let McCain know what was going on.

2. The RNC may send lawyers to Alaska to account for all of the clothing LOL.

3. This is yet another failure to vet by the McCain campaign.

4. It shows Palinignoramus' bad judgment and desire to grab everything she could for herself.

Nice candidates you guys.

Please run her in 2012.
