>I suspect we saw similar reports and what I got out of it is that they were suspicious because the Israelis would not let them in and that the Palestinians were claiming a massacre. Later, however, it was said that the Palestinians had claimed 500 were dead but they think the body count will be closer to 100.

So far, a week later, it's about 40, and most were gunmen or bombers.

>And let me just say, it never helps when the military gets paranoid and wants to keep the press out. Look what happened with our military in Afghanistan......there were similar complaints and people began to speculate the worse. I don't think the Israeli military are getting special treatment in this area.

Also, a week later, as it turns out that there were lots of boobytraps left it the camp by the fighters. That's why Israel didn't want to let journalists in. It's really dangerous! I received an E-mail today from someone whose friend is a reservist. Before he entered a street in Jenin, he was ordered to shoot all unoccupied cars to check for explosives. A full 1/3 of them exploded.

>Are you saying that Israel did not play a role in these massacres?

They neither ordered it nor carried it out.

>And apparently an Israeli tribunal agreed.......they found Sharon guilty of indirectly being responsible for those massacres...or is that revisionist history as well?

Nope. That's true, but in this case "indirectly responsible" meant that he didn't take enough precautions to prevent it, not that he caused it to happen. He was punished for being irresponsible, not for killing anyone. Remember, Israel was there in the middle of a civil war.
