I sense your keen interest, and do not doubt taht you, a younger woman, aspire to scale the Entertaining Heights which I have effortlessly reached.
I served Liptauer cheese with two kinds of crackers, a large turkey with stuffing made with heart-stopping amounts of butter, broccoli and cauliflower with a Mornay sauce, cranberry sauce (rather a coup in Italy, as it was made with fresh, well, frozen, cranberries and orange rind), giblet gravy, and corn with a cream cheese sauce and bacon. For dessert, panettone. I hate panettone but you have to eat it on New Year's Eve.
We drank: one bottle of Prosecco di Valdobiadine, 3 bottles of Sant'Antimo (a rosso di Montalcino, quite good), 3 bottles of Gutturnio, 2 bottles of La Versa (a spumante), 2 bottles of Perrier Jouet, and one bottle of Veuve Cliquot.
They seemed to like it. |
