why am i not surprised by this symantec tip....

Subject: Norton SystemWorks [NUTS TO MCAFEE - 01/08/2001]

"NUTS TO MCAFEE

You may encounter problems installing Norton SystemWorks 2001 on PCs
where Network Associate's Nuts and Bolts 98 is installed. The install
process might appear to freeze.

You can probably avoid this problem by shutting down or disabling Nuts
and Bolts before installing Norton SystemWorks, but it might be
necessary to uninstall Nuts and Bolts 98 first.

In fact, the utility suites under the McAfee and Norton labels
generally don't play that well together--particularly the
memory-resident applets-- because many of them assume ownership of the
same memory spaces and system files.

The problems don't threaten your data, but you're better off avoiding
the possibility of Registry conflicts by going with one or the other
set of programs."
