OT*****Mark, you lost your last name! What really disappoints me about baseball these days is that it's all about who can and will pay the money for ballplayers. Buying free agents, retaining stars, and making insanely one-sided trades are things only a few teams can do. Not to mention the money spent on scouting, farm systems, and signing draft picks.
In many ways, it mirrors Big Ten football. Michigan, Ohio St. and Penn St. get the ballplayers, Michigan St. and Iowa do ok, and the other six don't really stand a chance, except rare years where they get a wave of two or three "overachieving" classes.
You can cheer your Yanks, but remember, they're fighting for the championship of about 12 teams who hold any kind of chance financially.
Good to see you back!
Go football Gophers!
