Boris, You are right on. Compaq does not need to expand low end systems penetration by acquisiton. Does fine as is.

Services incudes expanded computer on-site maintenence services. TO compete in the market with the likes of IBM, HP, Sun, DEC, et. al., Compaq needs a strong field service organization. Large customers who buy large (higher profit margin) systems want heavyweight support. I look for CPQ to buy an organization which already has a large competent field service organization. This group includes,in my opinion, the likes of UIS, DEC, and perhaps third party service major players.

I don't think most people on this thread know how BIG a Compaq ProLiant can get. That is both POWER and $$$$$. And now with the Tandem systems, CPQ also needs more field service to penetrate in fault tolerant area geographically (Tandem alread has good service in most large metro areas).

My bet is DEC.
