OT: I think it's not actually a put - it's more like a forward contract. Either way, it does not change ownership, only economic risk. Note the hedger still has the risk the counterparty will fail on delivery (albeit small); and I am sure the broker gets paid something for his troubles...should voting rights be based on economic risk -- should we eliminate derivatives altogether? interesting to consider. take care. george
