Its weird but true that in this country people are admired for making a lot of money if a lot of other people also make money with them (as in, you start a successful company and a lot of people get rich buying your stock), but making a lot of money from a catastrophic event brings on the dogs.

In one instance its seen as creating wealth and in the other it is seen as transferring wealth, you win because a lot of other people lose. Of course, as many, many people on this thread have pointed out on the way up it was also was a transfer, just like the traditional pyramid scheme works, the ones in early are the only ones that get paid off.
