Didn't mean to offend you. Your question sounded more like a statement to me. And because this is a political thread, I assumed that you were much more knowledgeable than most people (e.g. my family members) with the party platforms.

So, to answer your question, I think the answer is NO. No cap and trade, no caps on emissions, no corporate tax hikes. Harper has lived in Alberta for over twenty years - so the Conservatives have the most favorable policies for the capital intensive industries (oil and gas, mining and manufacturing).

Harper has promised lower taxes for individuals and families - but all of his proposed tax reductions will not be implemented until AFTER the budget is balanced. So, we already know not to expect personal tax reductions for a few years. I expect spending cuts, but these will be targeted at inefficient programs (code for bureaucratic programs that simply waste taxpayer dollars). Long gun registry should be abolished by Christmas. Taxpayer handouts to the political parties will be phased out over three or four years, with the first reduction probably slated for 2012.

Overall, I look forward to boring, stable government. Every time Happy Jack proposes a new spending program, I hope to hear Harper say, "Good idea Jack, but we can't afford it now. Maybe next year". (just like waiting for godot).
