I think Arafat just wanted to save his own skin. That's one reason (out of many) why his people are pissed at him, because they'd rather see him suffering and dying a martyr than anything else.

Funny how Arafat is now a slave to the very terrorist mentality that he helped to create. It is so Mafia-like.
