With a CASH dividend you receive something of value....CASH. With a 100% stock dividend you receive stock, but the value drops by 1/2, so it makes NO difference if you buy today or two weeks from now. The ONLY reason why a stock USUALLY increases with a stock dividend is because it is a POSITIVE statement by management (...but stocks don't always go up after a split). Anyway, by now the split is ALREADY in the price of the stock.
