Yes, quite serious, it is considered unparliamentary language to call a fellow member a liar .... here, let's put just 'unparliamentary' into google .... aha -

news.bbc.co.uk

' Unparliamentary language

It is expected that the proceedings of Parliament will be conducted in a courteous and good
tempered manner.

Criticism and accusations are permitted (often under the cover of parliamentary privilege) but
certain types of language are considered too abusive.

MPs should not:
- Call another member a liar
- suggest another MP has false motives
- misrepresent another MP's language or
- use abusive or insulting language. '

You can still point out a lie, and its liar, you just have to use less inflammatory terms .... for example, 'While the honourable member for West Snideville and Tiddleycove has stated "This That And The Other", in fact as evidenced by X_____ it would seem that to the contrary, Y_____ and Z______ are in fact the case.'

No need for the terms 'lie', 'liar', 'you crooked slimey two-faced PoS', etc ...... you see, parliament is an institution that must, for all its failings, be respected ..... anyway, you'll have to face the same lying PoS across the floor the next morning, and the morning after that, so what's the point of using discussion-ending terms .... but mainly the thing is respect for parliament, for the concept of what it could and should be ...... then there's a practical side to it, the speaker would have to pay the cleaning staff much more to remove blood and body parts from the walls

There's a place for decorum in any attempt at civilising ourselves, i think ...... and if you don't think so, ¡well go phuque yourself you demented lying PoS! ....... how ya doing, Equis -g- ..... i've been away for a while, got out of the internet habit ....... Thomas here thinks i'm a right-winger, lol ...... he should ask some of the bushista ultramilitarists about my leanings, they can cancel each other out -g- ...... hey, one of my countries turns 137 today, wish us luck, eh ...... don't know if we'll make 138, we [and that's not the royal We] just elected a minority guvmint, the ruling Liberal corruptos who will depend for support on the socialist NDP, yikes ..... but, life goes on ..... i trust you are well? ...... adiós, amigo
