Hmm, ...we did manage to slow the advance of communism though and make it costly for the communists to take over these little countries. If not Vietnam then Laos or Cambodia would have been our war zone.

Korea had to be held just to stop the Chinese from eventually taking Japan. Containment is a lousy policy for war. We used the model we developed for the Korean war to map out our Vietnam strategy. That was a bad idea!
