AFAICT, N4.04 support for Digest Auth isn't consistent with the concept of a secure challenge, i.e. it sends the username/password back to the server with minimal protection, instead of something better than basic (plaintext). Of course, since encryption that's actually powerful enough to be effective is illegal, it doesn't really matter, but I guess that's not the point.
