Who is Neenny, Thomas? I am not sure what she is saying, but if it is that the Christian belief system and the Church leaders are all wonderful, and man, with his sinful nature, messes everything up, I am not sure I totally agree.
Many of the darkest days of Christianity--the Inquisiton and the activities of Christian churches during the Holocaust--came from the leaders of the church. While you could argue that man with his sinful nature went along with what was happening, doesn't this take away the responsibility of each man and woman for their own actions? Isn't conscience at its highest level a major Christian concept? I cannot imagine Jesus having anything at all to do with these events, so two of the conclusions you might reach are that Jesus' teachings have been grossly misinterpreted by Christians, or that Christianity often is not guided by him.
It is late and I'm getting quite tired. Perhaps you could clarify what Neenny is saying for me. Just disregard this post if I did not understand. |
