Mark, Cheeky, and Gottfried-- Thanks for your replies. I will definitely scope out Drive Image and QuikSync 2.

I do have the Iomega CD-ROM with 1-Step Backup and Restore. However, in re-running it (with an eye to using it with the Maxtor), it seems the version that they gave me is only usable with jaz or zip disks. For instance, there's no Windows "drop down" to choose a target drive (at least not in the version I've been provided). Maybe someone here can clear that up?

This 80 GB drive was purely intended to save data only, but in looking at Drive Image, I might re-think it and image the whole drive on there.

I'm also going to (RIGHT NOW!) make a zip rescue disk.

Thanks again for all your help.
