It is not ridiculous at all, it is indiscreet. Of course any assertion that Kerry is not so ready to handle the country's defense means that we will, in the long run, be more vulnerable to attack. It is a tenable opinion, right or wrong.

Similarly with the comments on the IAEA assessment: Cheney adduced perfectly logical reasons for suspecting that IAEA understated things. Whether or not he was correct is immaterial to the reasonableness of his opnion.
