Caxton - I would call the cdma overlay a success not an "experiment".

In fairness we probably ought to refer to it as a trial just as the W-CDMA installations happening now are 'trials'. The overlay probably wasn't a full-up system. However, having said that, the most difficult parts of the overlay (the RF, handoff, ...) are probably almost identical to run-of-the-mill CDMAOne and thus it didn't need to be stressed to the same degree as the current W-CDMA. Just my thoughts.
