pianopoet, I think you are too sane to be investing in the stock market unless you are a gambler at heart and you don't strike me as one.

It is a rigged game and it requires not knowing or pretending to not know in order to involve yourself in it. All the fundamental and analytical research in the world will do you no good if some short sider comes out with a totally false prognostication about your stock. IT WILL TANK. Likewise the other way round. Warren Buffet ate at X restaurant and the stock soars.

I liken it to the little sand pipers that follow the waves as they come in and go out. They stay right at the edge as a group, running back and forth with each wave. They don't care or think about what is causing the wave to go in and out or the stock to go up and down in price, they just follow their fellow sand pipers.

I am a gambler. When I go to Vegas or Tahoe I play craps. I have watched a table turn from can't lose no matter who is tossing the dice to can't win. There is absolutely no explanation for the turn just as right now there really is no rational explanation for the turn in Apple other than the sand piper mentality. Forget fundamentals, forget analytics, those require rational thinking. The stock market rises and falls on the tide and the tide can be pushed in either direction by a single word.

Whew! OK, bring on the arguments...............
