<<Militarizing Mayberry>> About 15 years ago something similar happened in Illinois. The IBI raided a home looking for bomb making materials. Middle of the night they broke down the door and the husband came out of the bedroom with a muzzle loading pistol at his side and they shot him in the head making him a cripple for life. Cuffed the wife and called an ambulance. They did find a few bottles with beverages in them, can of gas for the mower plus sheets on the bed for the fuses for Molotov cocktails. Turned out the warrant was for a house a block away. Wife got turned loose that night. Husband in the hospital with a bullet in his head. She sued and the IBI used the SODDI defense, some other dude did it. No record of any raid or record of anyone that might have been in on the raid.
