Outstanding post. It is my belief that if you are finding yourself to be overly diversified (i.e., owning a large number of individual common stocks) one is best to therefore consider mutual funds.

Owning too many stocks becomes cumersome, both in terms of buy/sell decisions, transaction costs, etc.
