Saxby Chambliss’ Senate Committee is in the process of trying to save a couple of billion public dollars by cutting agriculture subsidies, along with tightening up the food stamps program and thereby saving half-a-billion federal tax dollars there as well.

And I presume conservatives aren’t the only ones who might be happy about those developments.

Angry leftists want spending austerity too, don’t they?

Or I guess I should say ever since the GOP took over the entire federal gummint angry leftists have begun to pine for less federal spending, no?

After all, those trust-fund liberal chicken(deficit)hawks have been shouting and screaming about the deficit with such vigor they can’t even drive their Benzes, their Lexuses or their Cadillac SUV’s to Nordstrom or Bloomingdales without slipping into road rage, true?

Now, of course, all of that might be true, or perhaps simply a metaphor, but anti-Bush and anti-GOP Derangement Syndrome seemingly trumps the far left’s recently-discovered ability to be concerned about deficit spending.

Exhibit A is the manner in which Pravda-AP headlined their piece on the above-referenced spending austerity plans:

“Congress Seeks to Cut Food Aid for Poor.”
