If the harddrives are in the same machine just copy from one to the other using Windows Explorer, xcopy or Partition Magic, Each would have its advantages depending on what you want to copy. Most newer machines support four IDE devices. If you have an IDE CDROM and two harddiscs you probably have room for one more harddisc. You could install the harddrive and then use Partition Magic to clone your C drive. You could then install the new harddisc on the primary IDE channel and boot as before. In a new machine you could install your old drives and clone them to the new drive or just copy selected files with Windows Explorer.

How do I check my actual access speed

Right click on your modem icon and it should give your connection stats. You can check a few more things with Netmedic vitalsigns.com download a trial version. Networm indicated it may have a memory leak. You could use it for awhile to check things out. Once you learn how your modem is functioning you will not need it anymore.
