Manugistics Executing Move Into Government Markets
Manugistics Wins Contract to Appear on GSA Information Technology Schedule
ROCKVILLE, Md., July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- With the appointment of Manugistics Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: MANU), a leading global provider of intelligent supply chain solutions for enterprises and evolving eBusiness trading networks, to the U.S. General Services Administration's (GSA) approved list of vendors, Manugistics is executing a strategic move into federal government markets, the company announced today. First to benefit will likely be agencies and divisions of the federal government facing business challenges such as eBusiness initiatives, complex trading networks, and supply chain optimization that are addressed by Manugistics solutions.
Manugistics is now listed under contract number GS-35F-0388K on the GSA's schedule for information technology software -- a list of approved vendors from which government agencies can purchase technology solutions. The new agreement allows all federal government entities, including the military, to purchase Manugistics' intelligent supply chain and eBusiness solutions by simply issuing a purchase order, with the pricing, terms and conditions negotiated in advance. The appointment is integral to the Manugistics strategy of bringing its innovative, "best-of-breed" solutions -- once reserved for the Fortune 500 -- to the public sector.
"Manugistics had to meet the GSA's highly stringent standards before being added to its approved list of vendors," said Jeff Holmes, Manugistics' senior vice president of strategic solutions. "Government agencies can now experience greater efficiencies and improve customer service using solutions that have helped deliver results in the private sector for more than 20 years."
The appointment coincides with the federal government's ongoing transition from mainframe computing platforms to client/server platforms running enterprise resource planning and supply chain management applications. Using Manugistics WebConnect(TM) solution, which integrates applications, the government can ease the transition, allowing users to tie into the old platforms while at the same time enjoying the benefits of the new platforms.
The GSA administers its approved list of vendors in part to enable agencies to achieve faster and easier technology deployment by tapping into established relationships with vendors. The appointment is a prerequisite before a company may sell its products to the agencies.
