Preach on ... :-)

You are right of course. For me though, there are things that help me to keep a spiritual focus and you've listed a few. Good associations help, too. Making time to simply give thanks and praise to God is another.

I spoke last Sunday on the topic of anxiety in our service. In this move as I told you before I got a little wound up and anxious abotu some things -- In 1 Peter there is the memory verse which has "casting all your anxiety upon Him because He cares for you."
Just prior to this the epistle is giving some instructions for elders and overseers and how they should do service humbly. Finally, it says "all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another" and "God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the humble."

It occurs to me that trusting God for anything that one might be anxious about is real humility grounded in the ultimate reality of who God is and who we are. The goal for me is a continual prayer life. Being unafraid to examine any honest feeling or concern with the Father and coming to Him with trust that when He says He cares and will care -- that He will do no other such thing.
