Why would you expect the Nasdaq to maintain a constant relative value to the Dow? It is made up of companies that, over the long term, experienced much more rapid growth. Over long periods, while it is likely to be more volatile, it should also produce higher absolute returns, bringing the relative levels of the index up to and then past the Dow.
