Rob Portman. After Acosta rudely taped several takes of himself talking about Ohio voters, several crowd members near the camera stand began shouting, “Benghazi!” When his talking became so loud that no once in the vicinity could hear what Portman was saying, almost everyone surrounding the camera stand joined in, telling him to either stop talking or start talking about Benghazi. “We have reported on it extensively!” Acosta yelled back at the Romney supporters. “No you haven’t!” an older man yelled back at him. After being hounded by the group Acosta, who looked put off, relented and left the stand entirely. After the rally one woman in the vicinity of the press stand commented as she was walking to her car that she didn’t know who the reporter was, but she’d never seen a reporter interrupt a rally like that before. Ironically, the person the Ohioans came to see also did not talk about Benghazi or the terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate on Libya. Romney said that when he was President he would “take responsibility,” though he didn’t specifically say what he would take responsibility for, only that he would generally take responsibility from day one. The presidential candidates and the mainstream media may have moved past the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya, but today’s incident shows that at least some of the nation’s key voting block have not.
