What leads you to that conclusion?

One can have superior returns in the market if you don't try to time the market on a short term basis. Everyone has an example of someone who is in fact timing the market on a short term basis. Show me someone who has successfully done it for thirty years whereas huge numbers of buy and hold little old ladies beat market timers over long time frames.
