Can anyone explain what the practical benefit of Vanderpool "virtualization" technology (AMD=Presidio) will be, or "LaGrande" (AMD=Pacifica). LaGrande is security-oriented and claims to protect you against info being stolen from your PC. OK, so how will cookies work with it? Am I going to have to give permissions every time SI tries to remember my settings? No thanks. I've also heard that it is really a plot by the music and movie industry to enforce their vision of digital rights management. This should be about as popular as the P3 PSN -- i.e., NOT!

Vanderpool seems totally useless. WHo wants to run two operating systems simulataneously in case one of them crashes? OS's are designed to isolate programs from eachother, why should silicon try to do the same thing? Totally useless idea, if you really want to run two OS's at once on your PC, Microsoft and others have products to do that. But they are not best-sellers, so why should I pay for my silicon to do that?
