People want Mercedez Benz with a chauffeur. Dilemma for a true leader: "Where do you get all chauffeurs?"

You may have been replying tongue-in-cheek; but there is a great deal of enlightened truth in what you say. That is, people WANT a lot of stuff when they don't fully comprehend the issues -- and clearly, in the context of a poll, they cannot conceivably begin to understand even a miniscule fraction of the issues.

This is why the notion of running the country on the basis of "what the people want", as ascertained by polls, is both silly and dangerous, as evidenced by the disaster of the Clinton* (*impeached) administration.
